3XV Yamaha TZR250-SP engine 1991

Quick Overview

One of the rarest Sport Production engines there is, the 3XV Yamaha TZR250-SP engine from 1991. Yamaha only made 1000 of this type SP engine in 1991-2. This first SP had a traditional Yamaha 'barrel type' powervalve, from 1993 onwards they used a guilotine powervalve and so are much harder to fit as power upgrades to the R and RS model TZR250s.

If you want to extract 70+ bhp power from your TZR, the SP route is the only sensible way to achieve TZ250 GP bike performance.

We are unlikely to ever get another.
