1990 Yamaha TZ250-A 3TC reverse cylinder

Quick Overview

Restoration project - 1990 Yamaha TZ250 A model, 3TC reverse cylinder. This is a rare bike, being made for just the year 1990 only. For many, it represents the high point in Yamaha production racers, with Yamaha putting everything into this, their best 'over the counter' racer. Subsequent bikes in 1991 and 1992 were easier to ride, but not as fast as the 1990 model. Remember in this brief window of incredible innovation, Yamaha were invested in four different engine configurations: the traditional parallel twin with forward facing cylinders, their GP V twin engine where the rear cylinder was reversed, the parallel twin reverse cylinder as shown here, as well as the all new V twin, which we know ran from 1991 to the end of the two-stroke era.

Please take time to study the photos, we have tried to show as much detail as possible. The main missing parts are: bodywork, discs, calipers, clock bracket, rev counter. We have these parts in stock, along with an excellent pair of exhausts and cans - which we will discount if the buyer of this bike would like to buy them. The condition is rough, it has been neglected, with rust and fur throughout - but when was the last time you saw a 'restoration TZ250' come up for sale? Let alone the 1990 model..... This bike deserves saving, though we may break it for spares, if it doesn't sell in a reasonable timeframe.

Bike rolls freely, though the tyres are shot. The engine does not turn over by hand, so please factor in a complete strip and restoration.

Photos were taken 31/12/23 in the rain, so apologies for the poor quality of some of the pictures. Bike is located in England, UK. Price is £6,250 plus applicable shipping and taxes. Transport / delivery within the UK is £250-300, Europe £600-750, worldwide TBC.
